A nurse has been arrested and charged with inducing a 16-year-old patient to engage in a sexual performance at a medical facility in Lexington County.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives and Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kerston Kyle Turner, 28, of 113 Linde Lane in Lugoff on charges of engaging a child younger than 18 in a sexual performance and first-degree assault and battery.
Turner allegedly committed the crimes while treating the 16-year-old boy as a patient at a medical facility near West Columbia.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Turner was arrested Friday and released on $10,000 bond Saturday.
Turner’s employer said he is no longer working at that facility or employed by the company. The name and address of the facility are not being released publicly because that information could be used to identify the 16-year-old.
Arrest warrants state that Turner offered to conduct a secretive medical screening test on the 16-year-old boy Jan. 14 in a restroom as a ploy to engage the boy in the sexual performance, which Turner observed.
The medical screening test, which was not medically necessary, was not documented in the 16-year-old boy’s medical file at the medical facility.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department began investigating the case Jan. 14 after the boy’s mother took her son to a hospital for examination after he told her about the incident at the medical facility.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts asked anyone with information about criminal activity involving Turner to contact Crimestoppers.
