Midlands teams fall in third round of Chick-fil-A Classic Tournament

The third round of the 2013 Chick-fil-A Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament is in the books, and several Midlands teams will be headed to the final round of play Monday.

Classic I Tournament bracket

Oak Hill (Virginia) 91, Keenan 40

The Keenan Raiders will play in the Classic I tournament third-place game at 5:25 p.m. Monday against Arlington Country Day School after falling to the Oak Hill Warriors 91-40.

Keenan senior point guard Marcus Stroman scored more than half of the teams points with 25. Junior point guard Kendrick Gathers tacked on five points.

Oak Hill senior guard Cody Martin posted 22 points, and his brother and fellow senior guard Caleb Martin recorded 16 points.

Oak Hill will play Archbishop Carroll in the Classic I tournament championship game.

Wesleyan Christian (North Carolina) 61, Spring Valley 53

After losing to Wesleyan Christian by eight points, the Vikings will play in a consolation game at 12:45 p.m. Monday against Carlisle High.

Senior guard Chris Adams scored 21 points for the Vikings, and sophomore forward Jordan Bruner tallied 14.

Wesleyan Christian senior guard Theo Pinson posted 26 points and went 4-for-7 from the three-point line.

Wesleyan Christian will play St. Frances at 2:15 p.m. Monday in a consolation match.

Classic II Tournament bracket

Blanche Ely (Florida) 59, Lower Richland 47

The Diamond Hornets will play in the Classic II tournament third-place game at 3:50 p.m. Monday against Aquinas High School after their 12-point loss to Blanche Ely.

Lower Richland sophomore forward Larry Collins posted 10 points, and junior guard Jared Richardson followed up with nine.

Blanche Ely senior point guard Lance Tejada Jr. tallied 19 points, and senior guard Joshua Floyd had 15.

Blanche Ely will play South Pointe in the Classic II tournament championship game.

Morgan County (Georgia) 53, Richland Northeast 48

Richland Northeast will play Mullins High in a consolation game at 12:45 p.m. Monday after their five-point loss Saturday to Morgan County.

Freshman guard Marquise Riley scored 11 points, followed up by senior forward Brien Washington who tallied 10 points.

Morgan County sophomore forward Jailyn Ingram scored 14 points, and senior guard T.J. Starks was right behind with 13.

Morgan County will face Luella High in a consolation game as well.

Challenge Teams tournament

Athens Christian (Georgia) 55, Hammond 46

The Skyhawks ended the Chick-fil-A Holiday Classic with a nine-point loss Saturday to Athens Christian.

Sophomore guard Seventh Woods led with 18 points, and fellow sophomore Chavez Goodwin recorded 15 points.

Demarcus Evans of Athens Christian racked up 21 points, while teammateChris Tate recorded 12 points.
